Our internship scheme aims to equip young people with the skills, confidence and experience to succeed in employment. During the program, candidates aged between 18-25 learn what skills employers are looking for and how their individual experiences and achievements can be used to sell their own personal “brand”. The course also makes full use of the Pump’s “Makerspace”, a state of the art facility that allows the candidates to explore a number of hi-tech manufacturing and fabrication techniques like 3D printing and laser engraving whilst teaching them the basics of,2d and 3d design principles.

Are you stuck in a rut with your career, here at The Pump we offer employability courses where you will learn Digital Fabrication skills, learn how to design 3D objects to print in our 3D printers, and create T-shirt designs on specialised software and print your designs yourself! you will also learn how to work a laser cutting machine to create an unlimited array of designs.
On top of all of this, you will have a CV, Interview and transferable skills workshop to open up employability potential.
We have many outside agencies visiting our groups regularly to help guide you on your journey during and after your time on the course.

Without much experience he was struggling to find work so was keen to take advantage of the Pump’s employability scheme to gain vocational qualifications and build on-the-job experience. Arconic conducted interviews towards the end of the process and Jeff impressed with his enthusiasm and drive to succeed. Callum approached the Pump in mid-2019 after hearing about the Work Experience scheme. He had been applying to the high profile apprenticeship schemes at companies like JLR but had experienced a few knockbacks.
