Lady Sanity is at the forefront of the next generation of female rap, hip-hop and soul stars to come out of Birmingham. She's already played to a global audience of over 1 billion people when she performed at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games closing ceremony. There is much more to come!

For as long as she can remember, rapper Lady Sanity was surrounded by a diverse range of music.
Birmingham born & bred, she was constantly exposed to various 90s reggae, hip-hop & garage music through family members. This later encouraged her to discover her own musical preferences. In her teenage years she found herself exploring rock & blues as a means of teaching herself guitar progressions; which stemmed into an interest in song writing, lyricism and music technology. Sanity fuses the spirit of 90s HipHop, the heart of Jazz & the energy of Trap & Grime.

Her first public recognition was in 2014 where the local BBC introducing team invited her to record a live session after hearing her track ‘Dust’. Fuelled with enthusiasm, Sanity geared up to release her first mixtape ‘Construction’ whilst in her 2nd Year of studying Music Technology, and recorded all of her vocals in her home studio. The mixtape gained major recognition from BBC introducing WM, Radio 6, Radio 1 & 1xtra as 2 songs ‘Dust’ & ‘Blue Prints’ were play-listed as introducing tracks of the week.

Keen to further develop her sound, Sanity followed her debut with projects ‘Summer In September’ and ‘The Graduate’ to solidify her hard hitting flow with Grime, 90s Hip Hop & Jazz influences. With a growing catalogue of music, she took to open mic nights & University jam sessions to establish her confidence & stage presence. In 2016, this gained her a Glastonbury Emerging Artist placement resulting in 3 bookings at the festival. Subsequent to her first major festival she continued on to perform at BoomBap, The Great Escape, Shardfest & MADE; and has also supported Hip-Hop heavyweights KRS-one, Lowkey and Roxanne Shante.

Building her credibility as an artist, Sanity picked up her first award as GRM Daily’s selected 2017 Get Rated winner; followed by receiving ‘Best Solo Female 2018’ at Birmingham’s 1st Music Award ceremony. Most recently, the rapper has released PRSF ‘Women Make Music scheme’ funded project ‘For Figures’, a 5 track EP centred on Sanity’s path of self-discovery in her musical journey thus far.

Going from strength to strength, April 2018 saw the artist travel to the Gold Coast, Australia, for the Commonwealth Games 2018 closing ceremony; representing her hometown in front of an estimated 1 billion as her live performance was broadcasted across the world.

On her return Sanity was able to tick another goal off of her list as she embarked on her first UK tour with Punch Record’s (Welcome To My City Tour). The 5 dates covered Manchester-Liverpool-Southampton- London and Birmingham, concluding with a sold out home town headline.
